Ning v. Facebook

Hi OAC members! I wanted to know how you guys feel about this site. Do you use it? Do you log in often? What can we do to better improve our OAC member social networking? We've started a facebook group and page, which has been getting a lot of action while our Ning site is a bit lonely. Should we keep our Ning site going? I'm going to be logging in to this site every Monday and Tuesday during work. I'm down to answer, or try to at least, any questions you guys have. Also, we love suggestions…See More

Hi David! Welcome to the OAC's social member webpage. We've had this site for a while and the interest in it has oscillated quite a bit. I'd love to hear your feedback if you think it's useful or if it's just another site to…

The North Fork American- this is THE WEEKEND of the season!

The temperatures have been warm this week, as I am sure you all have realized.
The warm temps have been melting out the snowpack, and the North Fork is flowing with twice as much volume as it was last week! This is going to be the best week for getting on this wild (no dams) river. The flows should start decreasing consistently after this weekend.

Fortunately we have a North Fork trip scheduled this weekend!!! Who's in??

There is space in the cabin for Christmas, New Year's, Weekends and midweek!

Hey everybody,
It's snowy and cold up in Tahoe right now. I've been skiing every day, and I'd love to have some people to ski and ride with. Come on up! Let me know if there's a particular day you're interested in and I'll let you know if it's available.

Tahoe is officially Gooooooooooood!

We had an awesome weekend up here. Deborah is cruising off-piste now on her snowboard, getting ready for some backcountry action! Cassie notched it up on some black diamond runs, Matt hit the terrain park (and the terrain park hit back!) The rest of the gang (Chris, Christy, Dan, Jessica, Mike, George, and Stephanie) all helped make the weekend really fun. You guys are awesome. Once again it's the people on the trips that make the OAC so much fun!

I'll be up in Tahoe for the next few… Continue

Pura vida! Surfing in Costa Rica

We've all made it to Playa Grande, the home for our surf camp this week.

It's tough to remember what day it is when you are on a surf vacation. Wake up, yoga, surf, lunch, relax, maybe an afternoon surf, watch the sunset, dinner, then repeat.

Yesterday we had a great surf session. Everyone was standing up, and the more experienced surfers were catching waves as if the wave gods were hand delivering perfect peelers every 5 minutes. It was awesome.

After lunch we took a… Continue

You never know who you'll meet!

I just bumped into Ed Drummond in Lombardi Sports! You never know who you'll meet in San Francisco.

OK, who is Ed Drummond? He's one half of the first team (with Royal Robbins) to climb the North America Wall on El Capitan back in 1965. Think climbing is tough? You should see what it was like 45 years ago!

Actually you can, Royal and Ed are giving a presentation at the Victoria Theatre in SF on November 20, at 7:30. It's a… Continue

Welcome to the OAC social network site!

Welcome to the OAC's social network site.
It's new, and it is under development. Let me know what you think.
This site is open to all OAC members.
My hope is that OAC members will utilize the site to chat with OAC staff, stay in touch with other OAC members, suggest trips, buy and sell gear, and who knows what else? Let us know if you have any ideas to make it more useful.
